hand-felted packing paper, corded paper, silk thread
27 x 35″
a patchwork quilt of hand-felted (momigami) packing and wrapping papers gathered from daily life discards. the process of felt-crumpling the paper and puncturing/sewing are both cyclical processes re-enforcing, wearing out. the title offers a fraught pair of translated meanings of the chinese verb 留 (liu), the directive i was given as a child to help family members gather scrap paper for home use. the quilt is handsewn using silk thread and tied with hand-corded takeout napkins.
